Here is a list of things that broke on my truck. What else should I expect?
Radiator leaked, transmission lines leaked, front axle seals leaked, front axle u-joints bad, front upper and lower ball joints worn, rear transfer case seal leaked, steering wheel surface worn, starter motor, fuel shut off solenoid, driver side speaker, fuel gauge sender, oil pressure sender. All of the above broke under 75k miles and were covered under extended warranty (the smartest decision I've ever made). Now the truck has 100k and I just discovered the hitch is cracked. The Cummins has performed fine and starts instantly. Any comments on what might break next would be appreciated.

100k,bout time for a new AT,just kidding, my '95 has 122k going strong with only brake pads(2x),track bar, return line and throttle cable. Most of the work done on the truck has been things to make it better, not fix it.

Mine started at about 10 months old. First the compass/temp console wacked out and as I was driving it home from that fix, the radio quit - got a new one the next week. Then the mirror posts loosened up - got two new ones. Then throttle bucking - got new linkage. Then axle seals and last of all - tail housing seal. I hope that's all - it's out of warranty now! I thought 5th gear was going - DC checked it and said it was fine. They said I would know for sure if it's bad - lots of noise! Craig

Well I guess I"m lucky. 97,000 miles plus and still on original batterys, fuel sending unit, throttle cable, just changed original tires at 97,000. Needless to say I dont abuse my trk but I do use it. So far only problems-tps changed under warranty, differential rebuilt twice 16,000 (warranty) and at 85,000 not on warranty (ouch). Leaving for B. C. on 26th to have bill Kondolay lay hands on my auto transmission. Still works o. k. but want the improvements.
Happy Holidays

You might check with your dealer- there's a recall on the hitches.

My hitch is OEM so I guess I'll have to fix it myself. It won't hurt to try and see if my dealer will replace it. If not, I'll get my machinist to make some heavy duty replacement brackets or I might replace it with a Reese Titan V. I better go check my throttle cable...

I also have a 97 and here it goes
1. Steering shaft replaced
2. Fuel sending unit
3. Transmission input shaft seal
4. Fuel transfer pump
5. Metal fuel return line
6. Rubber fuel return line
7. Head gasket (my own mistake listening to morons about using a 12cm housing with wastegate disconnected on 450hp engine)
8. Rear axle seals
9. Steering column
10. Belt tensioner

I had a '97 3500 CC 2WD Automatic 4. 10 that I put 70,000 miles on towing a 5th wheel around the lower 48 at a weight above the rated GCWR. The following problems:

1 Warranty Claim--Replace 1 grid heater relay

1 Dealer Recall--Replace the headlight switch

Replaced the tires at 55,000 miles(Goodyear) No other problems--not even brake pads--and the engine wasn't stock. Regular PM was the only other expense. One of the best trucks I ever owned, but I wanted a 6 speed.

I must be rough on my truck! Aside from the front end work, I don't think the things that broke could be from working my truck hard. It has made me quite a bit of money and it's fun to drive so I can't complain too much. I guess if I didn't have my extended warranty I would have been screwed.
