stumble on startup

when its below freezing outside and the truck sits overnight it stumbles all over itself when it starts in the morning it hasn't died but it sounds like it might. Had the reflash done last week and their wasn't much smoke anymore. any ideas? trucks an 04. 5 with a build date of jan. 04

Problems like this are really hard to diagnose over the internet. What sounds like wicked stumbling to you might sound completely normal to someone else. Are you sure the stumbling and rough running isn't just a consequence of the cold temperatures? Are you waiting for the wait-to-start to go out? When you say it sounds like it might stall, are RPM dropping below 650?

I always wait for the light to go out and the rpm's are all over jumping several hundred rpms up and down. Before the flash when it was in the low teens it jumped 700 rpm either way and wound up trying to run around 1200 before it smoothed out. This time it didn't go that high but the high idle kicked in pretty quick and smoothed out and idled at 1000 like it should with the high idle. Gonna call the dealer tomorrow but the cold weather is gone for a week now.

Okay, it shouldn't jump around that much. But I think only a dealer or someone with a DRB-III could diagnose the problem. Could be a bad sensor somewhere that acts up when it's cold.

it's going back as soon as the weather gets cold again and the dealer is gonna start it after it sits all night.

Could be gelled fuel, mine did the same but would die

i ran some anti gel but it was the last of the bottle from last year does that stuff go bad? I have a new bottle now and will be adding it in on the next fill up or if it gets cold again.
