Heres the deal... and it has been a deal for the past two years now. I bought a new air temp sensor for the Beast over the summer. My problem was a short preheat time during cold weather start ups. Its doing it again! I'm out of ideas why it is doing this. Just a few days ago it was 0 degress out and it heated for just 9 seconds! I timed it, as I have been doing for some time now. I know this isn't right. What do you guys think it could be now? I just replaced the sensor like 5 months ago. I have to cycle the hears two and somtimes three times to make it start good. Its starting to annoy me. And ideas?? Thanks for your help. I love this place... .

The only thing I can offer is to clean each and every connection between the computer in the dash and the sensors/relays for the pre-heater. That was the cause of many of my problems, a little moisture and corrostion made life very difficult. Sorry, don't have more to offer.

Hi jaynes;
It sounds like your heating system is operating normally, as mine does the samething. Having owned another diesel before I believe this is a normal timing cycle. I recommend for the cold weather starting that, if you don't have one already, to get a block heater installed and have it on a timer that turns on an hour or two before you head off in the morning. I know you can also get coolant heaters which install into your engine coolant intake line(either electric or diesel powered)for making those cold starts easier. I saw the diesel powered heater on an earlier show from Crank and Chrome about a year ago. This should make the starting easier. Otherwise, you will be faced with the problem you mentioned. Regards
