I have the basic stock stereo in my '05 and there is a CD in there that refuses to eject  and there is no way I can pull it out manually. I am thinking for what it would cost to get it fixed, I could have the stereo replaced? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Thanks,

Paul

Been there, done that... You might just try removing the power restoring it and see if it ejects. I had a CD stuck in mine for 4 monthes and of course it popped out after they were going to replace the radio under warranty.

When mine did this I was able to get the CD's out by hitting the top of the dash. I did this two years ago and have not had a problem since. I was going to replace the unit because I thought that it would continue to get worse, but it has not been a problem since.

YUP - the 6-disc player in our Ford Escape had the same problem, was replaced under warranty - but turns out the most common and effective "field repair" seems to be to treat it like a wayward girlfriend, and beech-slap it vigorously... :-laf

:-laf:-laf:-laf... I'll have to try that. Bet your comment won't be published in the TDR mag Gary. Thanks for the advice though! ;)

I had mine stuck not to long ago. I was told to cut the power to it for about and hour and it would work fine. So that is what I did and it cured itself.

That is exactly what I had to do every time I ejected a CD!

Dependent on geography, could we substitute "beech" with oak or maple ? :-laf
