When subscribing to a forum how about getting a daily email summary of the new topics posted to that forum with a link to them?

If it works the same as subscribed threads, click on the "User Control Panel" button at the top of the page. You should see the new ones.

Subscribe to forum really does nothing other than list that forum on the user control panel. To be honest I don't know why they even have it - other than for sites that have TONS of forums and people want to only see certain ones. There's nothing out there for doing an email summary like your talking about and I don't see spending the time necessary to do the programming to make it happen. Also, email notifications and the lack of receiving them (due to spam filters, etc) are probably the #1 support issue we have to deal with on a daily basis - and not an insignificant amount of them by any means. Adding a feature like this would add significantly to that workload if it was used.

With the customized forum search feature that I recently added you can basically have that by coming to the site each day and doing a get last days posts. Are you aware of that feature?

I saw that but didn't see a way to "get last days posts" for the forums I am interested in. That would be nice if that was doable.

Get your forums setup for whether you want them on your default search or not (the grey/red S on the forum list). Then at the top of the forums list where all the stats are listed there's a link that says "Get last days posts". That will show you the posts only in the forums that you have selected on the forum list (by default all the forums except other & political). "Get last days posts", "View new posts" (in the upper right by your name), and the default search will all search only in the forums you have selected. In the search you can choose to search only on the ones you have selected (the default), all the forums, or an individual forum - up to you.

Just did that.

Searching is now much better and I copied my UCP and View New Posts links to my desk top for a fast- go-to!

Thanks Steve:)

Glad it helped. It was quite a bit of work to make it happen. BTW, don't forget to check the front page occasionally too because there's new news up there all the time as well as new website features regularly announced that you may miss if you don't check.
