Which add-on module gives the best MPG increase?

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had some inside scoop on an alternative to the oil directly from K&N to put on the filters? I used to use transmission fluid on my gassers, never had a prob, but on this truck, I'd like to be sure... .

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Erik

The one time I saw K&N oil, it appeared to be equal to a heavy engine oil - 50 wt, or an 80-90 wt. Gearlube, which is about equal thickness to a 50 wt.

ATF is almost always a 20 wt. so might be too light... but, if it worked before, might be ok.

Best way I know to tell is to monitor your intake hose to the turbo. If it's clean your probably ok.

JMO but overoiling has always been the bigger problem.

That being said, it's only @ 40,000 miles or so. . why take a chance NOT using K&N oil... it may be some special formula and the per mile expense is peanuts.

It's not as if the K&N oil is outragously priced. I don't remember what I paid for my refill kit a few years ago, but I thought it was reasonable. Why screw around? Is a $6,000 engine worth risking considering you'll save less than $3?

I know expense & all, but dummy me..... I took it off, hosed it out real good w/the K&N solution & dried it out... ... . :--) well, guess what I'm out of???

heheheeeee

hence the quest for alternative. Anyway, thanks for the input

Oh, I understand now! Well, how 'bout buying a paper filter until the K&N comes. I keep a paper filter on hand just for when I clean my K&N.

Just tracked down an overpriced kit at ATV a ways away from my house via a buddy giving me a lift... ... . better planning next time
