Ford CrewCab on 12v dodge on TRUCKs

I know it doesn't have a Cummins init but this thing is Bad looking

Hello, was considering putting my 84 suburban body on a recently wrecked 93 regular cab 4x4. Both are auto's, was looking for the right donor to do a cummins converion with, and this truck came my way. Anybody ever tackle a project like this ? I think it would be easier to just rebody rather than swap entire drive train, axles and all.

Thanks for any input

Mike

It is a good idea imo. Have you considered the wheelbase issue. Do you have to change the length to match the suburban boby. Im doing a conversion on a two wheel drive currently. If I were doing a 4x4 I would go your route as well. IMO the drivetrain out of your 93 4x4 is better suited than that of the burb. Im not a big fan of the ifs that is in the 4x4 GM products. At least not behind a CTD. Keep us posted if you decide to go thru with it.

The wheel base on the Dodge is 131" and the Suburban is 129" according to our book. 2inches, just split the difference. We have a 84 C-30 and a 92 Dodge D-350 and we tried to measure where the engine will be from the center of the axle and it appears to have enough room relative to the wheel wells. The Chevy has more room toward the back than the Dodge. Of course, it's hard to measure until you put the engine next to the firewall.

Only 2" difference. I would just split the difference like applegator said. That really removes a lot of hassle from the equation imo.
