For those of you looking to upgrade your stereo and add a subwoofer, but are concerned about space limitations, here is what I ended up with. It's a 10" sub powered by a RF 600W mono amp. And let me tell you, what a difference!!! I had replaced my deck and all speakers with a new Pioneer system, which made a world of difference; however, the sub really finished it off. It's got plenty of punch, without being too overpowering. If that's possible.

That's cool looking. Did you know they also make a mount to go under the center section of the front seat? I have just a regular cab(regret it now! ) so with no room behind the seat anyways I just threw 2-10" subs back there in "truck boxes".

With my Crossfire VR-404 its sounds good!

NoCalH. O. PO, did you make the box yourself? If so, why not go a step further and add sides to it to hold stuff? I've got the plastic bit under my seat, but would have to get rid of when I plan for a sub-woofer, just a few years down the road for me.

Michael

Michael,

I had a place called Audio Express in Sacramento do it for me. I told them I didn't want to sacrifice any leg room for the kids and this is what they came up with. As far as storage, I have a truck box that holds the majority of my stuff, so in-cab storage space is not an issue. But for someone who needs the storage, this box allows for room to spare under the rear seat.

Center Seat:

I Did one two years ago and let me tell you it has to be one of the tightest 12" subs I yet to hear from! Rare from a single 12 thet you get punch and mind disturbing lows. Not only that but I did not lose a single square inch of underseat storage in the back.

DOWNSIDE is that the rear cupholders had to take a lunch :(

NorCal: That is s SWEET box! Is it ported? Looks MINT!

This Stealthbox model is as stealthy as they come with a clever design that replaces the lower center cushion of the Ram' s front seat with a sealed subwoofer enclosure. Your factory upholstery covers the box for a perfect factory look.

The forward location and downfiring design of this Stealthbox deliver amazing "up-front" bass presence and stunning impact.

The Hard Data:

Contains one 12W3v2-D2 in a sealed enclosure. 300 Watt power handling. Wired for 4 ohm mono. Stealthbox replaces the bottom part of the factory front center seat. In Ram QuadCab models, rear center cup holders need to be removed and the seatbelt sensor needs to be relocated. Stealthbox must be covered using cover from the bottom part of the factory front center seat.

Model Name: SB-D-TRKCTR/12W3

SKU: 94082

Color: n/a (uses factory upholstery)

Model years for this model: 1994-1997

Match Grade: Perfect (uses factory upholstery)

You will definitely want to install a grill cover on that subwoofer. With it firing directly into the seat with minimal clearence, the contact with the seat over time will damage and/or cause the surround to tear. The problem will only be worse when someone is sitting on the seat compressing it more into the woofer. I am surprised the stereo shop did install one or advise you of this.

MTX makes a molded poly box that houses 2 10" MTX (or other) subs under the back seat. The amp sits under the middle seat. That's what I went with, plenty of punch and all you see is the front of the box. With a club cab I didn't have much other choice.

Mike

I'm also surprised about the shop not putting on a grill cover, but also not having any air to move is bad not only for the speaker, but for the bass as well. The more air you can move the better.

I had the MTX box with the two 10's. I think I'll step up to the JL Audio next time with the single 12 under the front seat.

Definately a sweet setup but 4 and a half is too rich for me. I am in the process of installing my own setup. My setup leaves 2" of cushion in the center section but only uses an 8" woofer. Once my Kicker S8L7 and Punch 401S show up I will do a write up.

That speaker is not in the folddown part of the center section, it's in the bottom and fires to the floor with plenty of room. I built one to put in the same place. he rear cupholder goes away for both the storebought stealth anf my own version.

It works great and there is zero space lost. Mine makes for a lump in the center seat but I've never had anyone sit there anyway.

I apologize for my lack of clarification. I was referring to the picture posted by the author of this thread.

Hey thats a nice looking setup. I have a picture of my subs in the readers rigs but I lost all of my storage lol. I'm also running a Alpine cd player with a Xtant amp and 2 10" boston subs. The seat is still useable but a little rougher ride but what do I care I don't ride back there haha. Sorry couldn't figure out how to shrink it more.

Q Logic also makes an "interior friendly" box that holds a single 12, thats whats in mine, powered by a 400W kenwood amp under the drivers seat, the serius satellitle tuner under the back seat next to the sub. All I lost was the center floor of the rear seat... but the Q logic box has drink holders in its top... .
