I have been wanting to use the instructions in TDR to clean the screen in the power steering pump.

I accessed it from the top, no crawling underneath.

Just an 18 mm line wrench, and a 1" socket on a 1/2" rachet.

The hardest thing was getting that little screen/nut off!

After i bled it, it steers great. Huge improvement.

The inlet screen can get plugged up over time, causing a loss of power steering of some degree.

With some restriction in this area (screen) I would think that there would be pressure exerted on the seals and cause pressure leaks. Am I correct in this assumption? or not. Pressure relieved?

I believe the pressure would be minimal since it is the inlet to the pump, especially with a plugged screen starving the pump.

I plan on doing it again, the new fluid must have knocked some stuff loose partially clogging the screen. Another cleaning and fluid change should do it.
