Who makes some decent sized mudflaps for our 2nd generation trucks? I have some on the truck now and are not sure if they came OEM or not, they have a Ram on the outside of the flap but look a little small to me for the big 3/4 ton 4x4. Right now, I get quite a bit of spray up on the rocker panels/door as well it spray that catches the rear quarterpanels.

Thanks in advance

I have "Husky Liners" brand on mine. They are very sturdy and look nice. As for how much they protect against mud and crap... ..... all I can say is they are way better than what I had before which was nothing.

The Dealer should be selling mud flaps made specifically for your 4x4 Dodge. They say Dodge across the bottom and they fit the truck perfectly. I think they were about $40 a pair.

Bill,

Are they long i. e. in porportion to the height of these 4x4s? That's what I'm looking for, something that goes further down toward the ground.

Thanks,

Rich

try a truck dealer like freightliner or peterbuilt. They usually have all black mud flaps with nothing on them. THen just cut it to fit, NAPA has them too.

EricBu12 used to advertise extra long black plastic mud flaps for sale in the classifieds. They were definately extended length.

I bought some very similar to the northwest custom diamond plate mudflaps. They set the flap back about 2 inches under the fender and have the normal protection on the sides.

They are not drilled for screws and didn't come with the rubber flap material. Thats up to me to decide where and how much. One could add flaps that hang down to the ground if prefered. They allow for a 12" wide flap.

But I probably wont mount them up. I want some fender flares pretty bad too and I dont think they'll fit with flares installed.

If you look at Tejas Deezul's truck here... he has the same ones on his truck.

Just a personal opinion, but I don't like the looks of the diamond

plate. I went to a local conveyer belt supplier and bought some

5/16" thick plain belting for $18 and cut then with tin snips. I of

course first made a pattern from poster board and then traced

the pattern to the belting. I didn't want to drill holes in the

fenders so I used a small punch and pushed in the plastic pop

rivet centers and pulled them out. I then attached the flaps

behind the inner fender liner with a couple Christmas tree

type hardware. BTW, I made mine come up to the indent in the

side and made them 24 X 18.

Similar, only in the copy of the step back.

Ours are offered in Stainless Steel as well as Aluminum Diamond Plate, they come with all Hardware (S/S), brackets, and rubber with weights. They are compatable with flares. and most nerf bars (front), and can be ordered for added length and,or custom logos. Available in several widths also.

I would suggest North West custom also for a very good mud flap. I have a second gereration truck (1997) and I bought these flaps in '99 or '00? But They do what I need them to do, and they do it with a certain amount of flair. I love them.

I apoligize as "very" was not the correct adverb. Perhaps just similar then.

I dont mind drilling my own holes and custom cutting flaps to bolt to the aluminum. I like to work on stuff like this. I have no doubt and can see NWC flaps are extreemly nice. Mine cost $80 for the four. That plus some rubber material and SS bolts should be less than $100 total. Thats about my limit for mudflaps. I really wanted the NWC but didn't personally feel comfortable spending that much when I needed tires too.

Some of those mentioned are really nice however, spending over 2 bills for mudflaps is not in the cards for me. If I would've had this truck from day 1 then it'd be in awesome condition but as it is now with some door dings/scratches it's just not justified to get pretty/fancy.

I really appreciate all the feedback.

I put Cummins mudflaps with the big white C on my 98. This was accomplished by putting square stock into the tow bar square stock tubing and then drilling and tapping to secure both the square stock and mud flap. Easy to do.

I got the mud flaps from Rocky Mountain Cummins www.rockymountain.cummins.com

This is also where I get my filters and etc mailed to me. Much cheaper than the dealer.
