Suggestions for a 6BT engine

Any suggestions as to what engine to buy would be appreciated.



Are there differences between the engines used in stationary applications and equipment compared to what comes out of a pickup truck? Cam profiles? Rev limiters? Torque curves? HP curves?



I have seen a few ads on DieselTrader.com and most appear to be from gensets or pumps.



What wiring am I going to need? I assume 12VDC power to the fuel shutoff. Power through the KSP. And power to the relays that control the intake grid heaters.



I have built wiring harnesses for vehicles so that part is not scaring me.



Do I just bite the bullet and buy a total or ragged out truck and strip it?

I had to run 12v to the shut off valve, ran the grid heater wire to a starter soliniod and put a toggel switch in the cab for it (havn't had to use it yet) I have the ksb that get 12v all the time so i ran the shut off valve power to it, alternator out put to the batteries wire from the regulator to the alt 12v thru a resister to the alt as far as I can remeber thats about it
