OK Fellas, I need some suggestions on running boards for my 96 4x4 CC. I would prefer black boards because everything else I have added is black (to match the paint). I have been looking at a set of FX running boards from Sears, but I don't remember the exact model number or who makes them. Also, I would like for the boards to extend from the front to rear wheel wells. Any and all comments are appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Des;
I have full length "bright side" aluminum boards on my '93 club cab 4 X 4 and really like them except for one substantial problem; With the front wheels turned there is so little clearance between the tire and the portion of the running board that sticks up into the back of the wheel well that there is no room for chains. When I have needed to install chains (elk hunting) I have had to remove the runnings boards. On my ordered '00 I will use boards that start behind the wheel well!!

Just put the black tube double step on my Quad Cab today! I'm happy. Regards Pete

the 3" (?) diameter black tubular Westins look sharp, but offer nearly zero gravel-chip protection---they are quite sturdy (I'm 195lb, and the only "budge" when I climb in is the suspension itself)---They don't interfere w/ tire travel, and might even (I haven't "tested" this aspect) be sturdy enough to double as nerf bars for serious rock-crawls----rich

I have the OEM color matched runningboards on my 99. They are spendy. My trade discount cost was $600. Installed them my self and they are quite sturdy. They are also covered under my 3/36 warranty. DeeZee makes a good board and I know they have black. Stay away from the cheap fiberglas paint to match boards.
