As i am in england i phoned cummins about putting exhaust brake

on my 1999 2500 24v auto.

I was told that i could only fit a jacob brake but not on a auto!

Is this so?

Are there any members out there who have done this? I wanted to fit a bd power brake.

I tow a 5th wheel and this would help the service brake out.

I have a Pac brake on mine. The only problem is you need to have some kind of controller in order to lock the Torque convertor up. This is the only way you will get the full potential of the brake. I believe you also need to raise line pressure. Somebody else please chime in here about the line pressure

like they say "you can buy a lot of brake pads for the cost of an auto transmission"

do it right or dont do it at all

I've just done this on my truck. (See my signature). I waited until the 5 year/100k warranty expired. If you want details I will be back in England next Tuesday, on telephone 01822 832507. Nick.

Thanks for answering my question one and all, have now recieved my bd power brake plus auto loc and pressure loc now all i have to do is to find somebody to fit it all.

Have also got three gauge pillar kit and pml larger transmission pan and rear axle cover.

Thanks again

UK Rams?

Did I mis-read something here. .. . ?? Another CTD powered RAM in England and then another!! It'll be nice to see other TDR members on the wrong side of the road occasionally :D. Currently I spend a lot of the time in Germany, where diesel is 30% cheaper!!

You may wish to check my profile(below) for related/similar mods. I went this route two years ago and got things sorted before I left the USA and Canada and crossed the big pond. The exhaust brake on an auto without some form of lockup device will be as much use to you as t*t* on the proverbial wild boar.

I'd be interested to know your criteria for making the choices so far and what size is that KOTR 5er? I have a Lance 1130 slide-in and have been toying with the idea of upgrading to a 5er - the KOTR looks awsome (pricey too, no doubt!). How much hassle do you get driving it in Europe?
