I have one and when I ordered it, they were on clearance about a month later. Seems they discontinued it. It was made by APC (yes, the ricer company) so maybe check out there website to see if its still made.

i tried ordering the kit from summit, but the supplied P/N said it was no longer available. anywhere else to get this kit?

I didn't try ordering the part today at Summit Racing but AMC-509104 came up on line and was priced at 48. 39.....

When I ordered mine a while back they were on clearance and were selling out the old number. But, a new number was available at a slightly higher price. I was fortunate and got the old part number at a GOOD price.

Ignorance is'nt bliss..

Please educate me a little, I thought this harness was to increase (slightly) the voltage and wattage to the existing bulds. Summit insinuates that you upgrade you bulbs? Is this true, is it worth it and which bulbs do you suggest?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, what happens is that the harness changes how the bulbs get power. In a stock rig, the power comes from the batteries, into the cab, through the dash and switch, out to the bulbs.

With the aftermarket harness, the stock wiring serves only to trigger a relay. The other side of the aftermarket harness connects the batteries and the bulb with much shorter and heavier wires. The net effect is that there's less voltage drop, thus the bulbs get higher voltages.

I built my own harnesses when I did the Sport headlight conversion. I'm still running stock bulbs. I may eventually put in different bulbs, but I'm leery about going to higher wattage bulbs in the plastic enclosures.

Because of the above explanation, my lights are MUCH brighter after installing the Summit harness. It was money WELL spent!!!

I'll second that. It was one of the best $20 upgrades I did to the truck. One caution - the APC kit wire was 'just' long enough to go to the right headlight. If the new kit shortened that wire at all, you might have trouble.

I had the kit on for about a year and went thru two sets of relays and now can't find the special relays to fit in the harness plugs so I took it off.

This is using the kit in Central Texas where the humidity is lower and no salt air.

Short wire

Yup. The wires provided are JUST long enough to reach. I wanted to route the wires in an unobtrusive way, so I soldered in about a foot extra. I used the same gauge and sealed the connections well. It's been verrry good for several years.
