Anyone tried the Summit Racing exhaust systems? Great price at $279 for the entire system. I need a new sys pretty bad. 250k miles on the current one. Not looking for anything extravagant, good tone would be nice but not necessary. I hope not to keep the truck too much longer and upgrade to a 2003 or newer.

Thankx

I have a 3" Summit system on my 1500. It has been on for 2 years and is holding up OK. I believe its an EMCO system. The muffler sucks as the tubes thru the end plates rotate and the tailpipe droops. Summit was gracious enough to send a whole new system for me to replace the muffler and mid pipe but the new muffler did the same thing. It is not the end of the world and I quit fooling with it.

If the truck is a short timer then the price is right for the system. Long term ownership warrants a better quality, SS system.

A few spot welds where the pipe turns would solve that problem. The muffler would be more likely to rust at the weld, but it doesn't sound like you are going to be concerned with the long term.

I have the summit 4" system and like it, great value for the price. It fits pretty well. It has a straight thru glasspac style muffler and is quite loud but not straight pipe loud.

I have the Summit 4" Aluminized system on my truck, installation was a breeze. Sounds great, and to this date I have not had any problems with it. I've had it on for a little over a year. You can't go wrong for the price. If you spend anymore $$$$, it's because you're trying to squeeze 1-2 more horse power out of it. Otherwise the Summit system is the way to go.

I dont have experience with the summit system but i had a jegs on my 95. It was great for the price. I believe they are both made by heartbeat exhaust systems. Not sure though. You will either need to make a bracket or buy one for the tailpipe it is different betwwen 12 vavle and 24 valve and the kit is made for a 24 valve.

After looking at it. I think I will go for the MBRP exhaust. The systems are going for a decent price on Ebay and there is someone very close to me on ebay selling them as a dealer.
