Competition What ever happend to BIG MAK?

Competition Hooking up tach

Hey, just wondering who is all going? I am planning on taking the converson truck for one last run before winter... won't be pulling but am looking forward to meeting a bunch of you guys and finally showing Haisleys the truck, the engine they built me in the spring went in to!

Sounds like it should be a good time, My brother is also bringing down his 97... not sure if he wants to pull or not yet... kind of far from home to break!

What is the track there like anyway? kept meaning to ask Patty that but always forget.

HA HA... there is a reason I havn't put the Hitch on yet and the loops and the other saftey goodies!

Its not really the engine that I am worried about, one thing with a conversion like mine (everything on the truck has been changed out) is that I am still working out the bugs!

Not sure if I will be driving it down or not now... my brake light switch is giving me problems... . I think its just missing a special clip to keep it aligned to the pedal but that has to work before I drive it anyway... little bugs like that!

So back to my original question... any info on the track? and who all is going?

It was a great time. Weather was nice. Hot dog buns weren't that hot, but can't ask for everything;). The Haisley's put on a great show. Can't wait til next year's pull.

Justin, I'm pretty sure your truck could've pulled. There were stock and street trucks pulling that didn't have all of those 'safety' items.

Anyone know why none of the Scheid trucks showed up?

Years ago, there weren't any sanctioned mod classes, so the mods had to pull where ever they could. Now adays they have several points pulls. So no need to come out and trash your stuff for $150 purse. It was a great time. If I was a guessing man from a conversation I had with Van earlier in the year, that Rock Hard Ram is getting a new motor for next year. Plus they just love pulling, and the run by Rock Hard Ram was for charity.

Yeah I was very impressed also with the pull also! I really wished that I would have been able to drive the truck down but oh well... next year I will be there with it for sure and pulling also. My brother was going to bring his 97 down but split the yoke on his Dana80 in 3 pieces thursday night!

We all had a great time and that was the first time everyone else that came with me saw a real diesel truck pull and a highly modified truck like Rock Hard Ram!!! Ours pulls up here in Canada are no where near the level you guys have but after watching them pull on the weekend I don't think its the trucks.

All of the sleds that we have up here are the old style weight transfer sleds and actually have weight on the plate when the pull starts makeing it harder to get up and going fast like you guys can. And then at the end of the pull there is no added down pressure on the plate other than the weight... yours has the cylinders pushing down and lifting the wheels of the ground.

Anyway, thanks to Haisleys again for putting on a great show! and we will see you all next year with our trucks!

I was dissapointed cause my wife didn't win the poweder puff. LOL. I am guessing she will be there again. Everybody was making fun of Amos cause his wife actually lauched the truck better than he does most of the time. I met two TDR guys, so it was cool. For some reason my truck put out only 45. 3 psi of boost and the egt's were about 150 low. I hope I am not having another fuel pick up issue. I don't know if the dry track wasn't loading the truck up. DId anybody else off of here pull and see a similar thing?

Dan I should've introduced myself to you. I was in the white 2wd 1st gen next to your trailer when you were loading your truck. We were pooped and ready to hit the road after the pulls.

My buddy that pulls the white 93 1st gen had rpm issues for some reason. I don't think he was watching the boost gauge, but said it would only pull 3700rpm instead of the normal 4500-4700rpm. Pump problems?

Not for sure, he has been plagued this year it seems. 4500-4700 wow. I only push about 4,000 usually less. I didn't watch the tach this time though.

Yea you should have. I saw your truck, and actually remember seeing someone getting in it. The highlight of the day for us was when our 3 year old son said he had to pee, and before I got to him he pulled his pants down right in front of the bleechers. At least I got to him before he started peeing.
