Thanks, TDR Staff

AFE Stage 2 system (long)

Many thanks to Joe Webb and the Sun Coast crew for coming up with a new product that worked flawlessly in it's first Beta test.

Jeff Garmon and Darren Morrison were both running the new Pro Loc 5 disk converter with improved billet shafts. Both trucks worked perfect, and Jeff ran his best EVER 1/8 mile lifting before the line.

Jeff normally runs mid 6's in the 1/8th at 114 - 115 mph. Jeff ran a 6. 39 lifting early at 111. It was a shame the shutdown area on the track was so short. His 60 foot was a 1. 504.

Darren blew a boot on his first pass. Darren normally runs 7. 0's at 101 mph and this weekend, he ran a 7. 11 at 76 mph, again loosing the boot at about 450 - 500 feet. Air intake temps kept him from running faster the rest of the day, but both Jeff and Darren will have that fixed by Atlanta.

Both Jeff and Darren said the converters were awesome. Sticking this kind of power is tough, but thanks to Joe and crew, it just got easier.

Thanks from the Garmon racing crew for you guys always thinking ahead and helping plant the power.

What else would anybody expect? This side of the Mississippi, nobody compares. The other side, who knows? They never show.

When was the last time someone from this side had to throw a couple extra discs in the t/c to keep it from slipping? There's people who compare... ... .....

That's not a problem 69. That's the point I was making with Jim. Power to the ground and the torque will twist anything. We just has a little slippage and Joe fixed that.

Can we not play nice? :-{}

Let me clear something up. Jeff, Darren, and Matt did not have slipping converters. Part of testing a product is beating the crap out of it and inspecting the product. Joe is getting ready for the next power step I assume, but I know nothing about converters. I just know both trucks had best 330's and Darren would have had his best 660 had it not been for a blown boot. Darrens pass was a 1. 70 sixty at Scheids which was normal for him. If he had been slipping that would have picked up. Jeff got a good hook. That was tire pressure and probably a sticky track. It still was not his best 60 foot but was his best 660. The converter works!! :cool:

Davids right. There was no slippage with the torque convertor. I meant to say if there could have been any, Joe wanted it fixed, now. As I told snowracer, when you move a 6000 lb truck at 11. 08 in the quarter, things in the transmission will break. Joe wanted to make sure the convertor was never the problem. The next level, as David said. I'm sure Ronda can relate as to moving a heavy, 2500 at the times and speeds we're trying to reach, is thrashing the transmission in a way it was never intended.

As to the best? It's your money. Spend it. Don't fight about it. Just "hold on and race". Let the tracks and trucks do the talking.

You know it's funny how Joe at Suncoast didn't want to have anything to do with running their Ford transmission behind my Cummins :D , and I am moving 7000lbs at 11. 07 with no breakage (nothing like a Precision tripple disk convertor) :D :p :-{}

Didn't want to have anything to do with it, or didn't want to have anything to do with SPONSORING it?

Nothing funny about it. Just economics. You wanted a sponsership(no monies) and I choose not to participate. Why were you looking elswhere if you already had the best?

By the way Maddog, you called me, I did not call you. You're running a precision converter with ATS decals? Dennis Perry, 6400 lbs @ 10. 92, no breakage :)

I thought MD2 had sour grapes, but now I see there're not sour, just plain rotten. Bitter? A lot like a green persimmon. I bet your face is all wrinkled. Wow. Smile sometimes.

I don't see in my post where I stated who called who. And yes I run an ATS decal considering they just put a trans and a bunch of other performance stuff they sell in our 98 Dodge 12 valve tow truck. So yes they are one of the several sponsers that I have. I run a Brian's Truck Shop E4OD with a precision converter in my Ford, and ATS sells alot more than just transmissions. Does that mean that Dale Jarrett in the #88 UPS car should be hauling around and delivering one of your torque convertors cause he has UPS on it? :-laf I am always looking for good sponsers and yes I called you and you declined cause one of the reasons you gave me was you felt the Cummins I was running would be to much for your E4OD. I guess you learned first hand how true that was when the guy that bought my old motor bolted one of your trannys behind it, and what has he gone through like 5 Suncoast trannys now> :-laf :-{} BTW Smoop I am always looking for something better isn't that part of racing and winning? I came to you to see if you wanted to have your Suncoast logo on one of the fastest trucks in the Nation and you chose not to. See you at the drag strip. ;)

Richard,

No, you didn't state who called who, I did. I don't now if you're misinformed or just have trouble with the truth, but Gabby is still on our (his first) original trans. He did break 2 shafts (just like you have) because he likes to make 70# (yes 70) boost launches. We now have a 300M output shaft.

My logo is on a lot of the fastest trucks: Fletcher, Hoss, Garmon, Darren Morrison, Matt Stucky, TS performance, Jeff Prince, and Joe Hellman. None of them are sponsered. I just don't pay to put my logo on a truck, including yours. Does this mean your'e coming to Atlanta? After all your hot air this approaching hurricane will be abreath of fresh air.

I wonder who has trouble with the truth? :rolleyes: 70lbs boost launches!!! :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

I have had my truck up to 40PSI on launches. Anything over 35PSI in a Dodge is a waste without slicks. Also only the best transmissions/shafts can handle that kind of power reliably,
