Well I had a local shop do a full Suncoast build on my truck a few weeks ago. When i first got it home i noticed a loud noise when in park or neutral. I called them the next morning and they told me its normal, that it is a high volume pump. When i say loud, i mean drown out the engine loud! So i drive it for a week then on my way home from work i loose reverse. When i put it in drive it would jerk quite a bit then slip all the way to redline. I called the shop and they dont cover towing so i had to have a buddy from the fire department haul it. 4 days later they call and say its ready. Well, it still makes a horrible noise in park and neutral, but now it makes a loud grinding noise when im slowing down at around 20mph and stopped in drive!#@$%! Im at a loss of what to do. Im really thinking about calling suncoast to see what they have to say. Should i just have them put it back to stock and order a transmission from a different maker or what?

Without a doubt I'd call Suncoast. Suncoast has had some good reviews on this site and others, and I really dont think they would want any negative press regarding their product.

Installing High Performance transmissions requires experience, and a considerable amount of knowledge, and thats just the mechanical part. If your taping into any part of the ECM for reference you need a good "ECM/PCM Guy".

I had some issues I went through when I installed an ATS HP unit on my 99. Your going to have to work with Suncoast on this one. I would ask if there is another installer you could go to. Just stick with it, I did.

Once I ironed out my problems I was more than satisfied, as you will be too.

Sounds like your problem is with your transmission builder. From what I have read here many members like the Suncoast components.

The end results are almost certainly going to depend on how honest your builder is. Will he stand behind his work (and his mistakes) and make it right, or is he going to walk away from you and leave you do deal with it alone?

I have installed over a hundred Suncoast tranys and have never had any noise heard in the cab of the truck, something is very wrong.

I managed to get the truck back to the installation shop. They called me about 3 hours later saying that the mechanic didnt hear anything and that the transmission is perfect. So i asked to speak to the mechanic. When he answered i asked him how far he had driven the truck. He said around the block. I told him to take it out again and this time drive it until its fully warmed up. A couple hours later i get a call from them saying they heard the noises and felt the vibration but werent able to find anything wrong with it. My response was thanks for all the help, put it back together, and i will have it towed to Suncoast HQ to have them fix what they couldnt, and said goodbye. Within an hour i get another call from them and the guy tells me the owner of the shop is helping the mechanic to pull it apart! Finally some freaking help! They called back this morning saying the torque converter wasnt right and assured me i would have my truck back by thursday. Hopefully this will be the end of the problems.

I've put Suncoast trannys in several trucks. Never had a problem, but I'm pretty sure they'd do everything in their power to help you if your installer/builder lets you down. Good folks!
