Hi all !!!

I bought my truck a bit ago and promised to post a few pics when I got her... well I have been busy... but better late than never!

Here are the BOMBs so far:

Sunroof

Leather

Removed the Rear "DODGE" & "4x4" decals

Removed the side "Sport" badge (cleaner look)

Pro Comp Xterrain 285's

EVERYTHING on this is better than my 98 12v.

Thanks to everyone that helped me when I was looking to buy it!

PS if you have any questions on the sunroof fire away!

AHHH it won't let me attach em!!! canvas and size are too big... can anyone help? PM me an e-mail address to send them to and i will post em. the biggest one is 67kb

Oo.

Virtual Sunroof?

Can't wait to see the sunroof. If you have Microsoft Photo Editor you can resize the pics so they will fit. If not I've PM you an email address. Oo. Oo.

yup I got a hole in a perfectly good roof... I am still a little worried...

But before I bought the truck I sat up there with a hose on it for over 5min and not a drop inside ... still no problems... yet

Oh, and it closes automatically 2 seconds after I turn the engine off!

Pics coming soon...

Sunroofs Rock...When Pro Installed

I spent time training and then spent years installing Hollandia Moonroofs.

Moonroof = Retracts inside the vehicle and utlizes a water management system.

Sunroof = Typically pops up or retracts on top of the roof and uses a water seal system.

A moonroof is far superior to a sunroof in many aspects even if you discount the fact that it will usually pop up OR drop down and retract inside the vehicle.

A moonroof utilizes a water management system. A water management system has 4 drain tubes (one in each corner of the housing or pan) that run hidden all the way down and out of the bottom of the vehicle. Simple premise, water is allowed to come into the unit and drain right back out. The weatherstrip around the glass simply keeps out wind and debris that can clog the drains. If it ever does leak, you probably have a clogged drain from leaving it open while parked under trees.

A moonroof is also a structure member. To install it you have to remove a roof stiffner but you are putting in a unit that is alot stronger than what you took out and we installed braces from the "B" pillar or vehicle roll cage to the housing of the moonroof.

In essence the moonroof becomes part of the structure of the roll cage. It was my understanding that the moonroof and the installation proceedure was crash/roll tested.

We always tapped a power souce and soldered the wires and didn't just plug a wire out of a fuse in the block. This made for a very reliable setup. An inline fuse was used as well.

Also because the unit has an electric motor we had a manuel override so the unit could be closed in the event of a power failure or dead battery.

Enjoy your Moonroof... Providing it was a quality unit and professionallyinstalled you should have no problems with it.

Didn't mean to be so long winded...

David,

Sorry about posting such a long winded post about the moonroof. I just knew there was going to come a post about how they all leak and the usual retoric about how "aunt Martha had one and it leaked to high heavens" ect.

With your key on and the moonroof open (wouldn't want you to get a headache with autoclose) stick your head up into it and look in the front two corners of the pan. You should see two holes about 3/8" in diameter. Those are the openings of the drain tubes.

The very first one I installed was in my truck... I installed the drain tubes uphill in the rear of the housing... . NICE SHOWER WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES

David, what year is your truck? I've thought about a moonroof but figured nobody would want to touch it with the side airbags being up there.

I live in Mountain View and work in Daly City, and would LOVE to see your truck. Thanks

And I would LOVE to post em! just can't figure out the re-size. I have e-mailed them to everyone that has PMed me with an e-mail address and nobody has e-mailed them back to me resized :{

As soon as I get them back i will post them.

My truck is a 01. 5' the Moonroof was already installed when i bought the truck. For those of you in the bay area that wanna see it I will be driving north on either the 101 or the 280 for about an hour to SF to visit friends on Sat, so I could quickly pull off and show ya!

This is easily one of my favorite things about the truck... the only downside is

it increases cabin noise if the plastic cover is not shut when the roof is closed

between 30-33 MPH is has that eardrum vibrating "will someone crack a window" thing goin on but after that it is fine

and the plastic cover was not installed in tracks, it kinda floats (but still works)

hopefully have those pics up soon

David, You mention it has a Buffeting sound when the roof is closed? did you mean when it is open at 30-33mph?

If this is the case a wind deflector on the front will take care of that.

It should have a little pop-up wind deflector in the front and sometimes it can be adjusted to rise a little higher when it is open to stop that noise.

One of those smoke colored wind deflectors mounted across the front will eliminate any sounds like that you have.

Dude, just put them in the reader's rigs gallery. There's a link to it on the left side of all your posts. If anyone wants to see them, point them to your gallery.

Easier that way and they can be any size you want them to be.

Yes, I mean the eardrum noise when the roof is open at 30-33 MPH.

It has a plastic retractable wind guard that pops up when the window is open... I think it is there to keep debris from shooting in...

Kinda funny when I hold the guard down the wind noise is significantly less... but it isn't that bad when open, I am mainly talking on the freeway

pic scoming soon... someone just PMed me a promise to have them right back to me...

haven't figured out the rigs gallery yet... will do that this weekend insteada while at work

As I recall it was $1295 installed. It is all electric, pops up or slides open into the roof. It has 2 presets to program the roof in any position you want if you want it other than open or closed and you dont want to adjust it manually all the time. It closes automatically after the key is turned off. I have had it over a year and have had no troubles with leaks. In fact I just returned from a 3500 mile trip and it rained HARD for 350 miles, non stop and there wasnt a drip. It does have a national warranty, at the moment I dont recall how long it is but its pretty good as I recall.

Hope this answered your questions, let me know if I missed something you would like to know. Oh ya, the cover you see in the gallery that cover when the roof is closed completely retracts into the roof with the window. The second picture doesnt show it fully retracted.
