OK, it's 2006, and most of us put the Super 8 movie camera away 25 years ago, but I still enjoying shooting a roll of film from time to time

I usually order a 2-3 rolls online, shoot it, then take it to Wal-Mart for developing. Then I wait for a dark night, throw up the movie screen, drag out the projector and call the girlfriend over for a movie :-laf OK not really, but. . . this week I tried ordering 4-5 more rolls of film and wasn't able to find ANY. WTH? It was readily available last time I ordered a few months ago. I then figure out Kodak is pulling the plug on Kodachrome 40, the film home-movie makers have shooting since 1965 (when Super 8 replaced standard 8mm). In a year the processing is going bye-bye as well. Great!

Incase any of you guys happen to give a rip, sign this petition that will hopefully get Kodak to reconsider :) http://www.petitiononline.com/k40/petition.html

Yeah... We still have all my family stuff on 8mm. I havent been able to find that film for at least 10 years... I guess I'm still behind the times, using VHS and all.

I just got a DJL bulb for my super 8 projector last week on ebay. We started a project of converting literally 100's of hours of super8 to dvd for posterity.

On a site, i saw that the film is being discontinued. Ebay guys are trying to make a killing of the last of the film.

Well I found out there is a brand new Super 8 film that just came out, Ektachrome 64T. So I guess Super 8's not dead yet! LOL Apparently Super 8 is used a lot in film & media schools and some use this format commercially. They shoot on Super 8 then scan for digital manipulation.
