Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Super Chip No More Run

Another problem its not my week My brother just bought a 1998 put a super chip program on it on the high but not to impressive setting but it ran fine . Than he put it on the tow mode and every thing went wrong wont run and no ecm reading on scan tool does this sound like he needs to get reprogramed or order a new ecm He has unhooked the batteries and touched the cables together like the super chip tech told him to do
