Has anybody tryed this new item? Or am I just behind the power curve. This is for the Cummins, per e-mail from superchip. The price is less than any box on the market.

The Dodge Micro Tuner is very simple to install. Plug the Micro Tuner into the vehicles ALDL diagnostic port, located inside the vehicle. Program your vehicle with "Superchips Signature Tuning" in just a few minutes.

User options on the "3705" are as follows.

3 Power Levels

40 hp & 75 ft/lb torque

50 hp & 90 ft/lb torque

70 hp & 140 ft/lb torque

Adjusts for different tire size or gear change

Tow Safe

Hi Performance NO TOWING

Hi Perf Towing up to 6000 pounds

There's no need for tools, no need to access the ECU. Tuning the vehicle is simple and straight forward. The Dodge Micro Tuner by Superchips Inc. is of a true plug and play design.

PLUS!!!!!!!!!

The 3705 can also be used as a

Vehicle Diagnostic Tool!!!!!!!

The 3705 can be plugged into any late model Dodge, car or truck, to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). This feature helps the user to diagnose today's complex vehicle electronic systems and can not only display the trouble codes, it can also clear the codes too. A complete list of Dodge Diagnostic Trouble Codes will be provided in the user manual for each 3705 Micro Tuner.

I tested a beta unit a week ago with Ted Jannetty on the dyno at Unlimited Performance in S. Windsor, CT. There may be other issues with my truck which I'm looking into but the results we saw with the Superchips tuner were disappointing. While the Duramax unit gained 65hp over stock on power level 1 the Cummins unit on my truck gained 14hp. Power levels 2 and 3 were similar. After setting everything back to normal we tried an Edge EZ on my truck and gained 45hp, not what I was expecting but more than the Superchips. Overall, I don't think it's worth the coin at this point, save your money, wait till the develpoment on it is finished and see what sort of numbers the final product makes.

I just got it on 8/1/03 and immediately installed the high performance setting. I don't have any dyno numbers but I do have before and after boost numbers. My baseline is with stage II injectors, bhaf, 4 inch exhaust, and a BD boost fooler. My baseline boost was 30-31 psi and after installing the high performance setting, it rose to 33-34 psi.

I know a lot more fuel is coming on earlier based on the smoke output and by how quickly the boost builds. If I step on it before boost is built up, it smokes like a coal train. EGTs have also gone up by about 100 degrees.

I have tried an EZ box before and it topped out at 34 psi, although it seemed to do so over a wider rpm range.

Overall, I'm pretty happy. A speedo re-calibrator can run close to $200, so spending $300 to get that and some more horsepower seemed like a good deal to me. It sure feels like more than 15-20hp but I don't think its quite as strong as the EZ.

Anybody tried "stacking" this programmer?

With the Duramax, you can stack an Edge Juice, with a Programmer, can you do the same with the Dodge? I know you can't with the Ford.

Thanks,

I was really interested (mainly because I need my speedometer recalibrated) when I saw it on TV. It even had a picture of a 3rd gen truck on the unit. Total disappointment when I found out it was for 2nd gens only. . Oh well. :p

STACKING....

According to Aaron @ Edge

"You can stack the tuner if you would like it will increase horsepower over and beyond what you have. "

This is the answer I received when I posed the question if I could run an EZ along with programming my truck with the Micro Tuner.

I'd like to see actual #'s of the EZ/MicroTuner combo.....

This sounds very interesting. I'm getting an EZ tomorrow and I'd be very interested squeezing a little more out of it not to mention the correction and codes.

The site says 98. 5 to 2003 but your mileage may vary

For now, I'm still running stock size tires, so I haven't done it yet. For kicks, I checked my stock size with it and it was set at 31. 5", which is what its supposed to be. The manual says you can set the tire heights from 24. 0" - 38. 0" in 1/4" intervals.

Wow, being able to adjust tire size would be nice. Is there any way you could list more functions of this device? The website they have doesn't get into much detail.

How does it revert to your stock program? Is it your original, or does it just program a 'stock like' performance program when you revert.

The manual says this "the Return to Stock Sequence is used to reprogram a vehicle previously tuned with the Superchips MAX Micro Tuner with a copy of its original stock tuning". It then walks you through the steps.

There's a subzero temp feature that says its for those using winter blend fuel in low temps and experiencing a re-starting problem after the engine is warm (its not a high idle feature).

The other big feature is code diagnostics that allow you to read and clear codes. A list of all codes is provided.

Only one upgrade

You can usally only use these programs on truck at time for upgrade power. I not sure about the code clearing featues and tires.

I order one in the group deal, as I never planned on taping the comp wire. And this easier for the wife to detune when i travel to go to the dealer. Stackable might be interesting. 1x2 plus super chips? very confusing.

The tuner locks itself to your truck's VIN number. I believe if you set everything back to stock, it unlocks itself and you can then use it on another truck.
