That is the way the Ford #1705 tuner works, and the gasser tuners.

Diablosport Predator for the Duramax Doesn't work that way :{

The Edge EZ Works that way :D

speedometer setting

sorry guys,

I called superchip and their techs didn't know jack about this, it has only been available for two weeks. It will not reset your speedometer on Diesel only gassers. They did say it will read codes, I can't on my odometer because I have a 98. 5, but I hope this will work. I ordered it today and will let everyone know how it works. The guy at 2D pref. said on the lowest setting, you won't notice a difference unless your towing a heavy load. That's ok for me, if I wanted a dragster I'ld a bought my rig from Duke Perdone.

Peter

I ordered one also.

We'll see what a difference it makes with a Drag COMP, PDR Cam, PDR Head, DD5's (mega mentals) and a PDR 40/18.

I'll be some dyno testing to see what the Cam, and head do. and I'll slip in some testing of the SuperChip.

Somebody will probably beat me to it, as my head won't show up for about a week or so, and then I've got to button 'er all up, and I've a few things up my sleeve. (cosmetic only) then I'll pop

'er on a dyno.

BTW, Should I put one on the 12V ? :-laf

I've had it about a week now, so here's some observations:

I've tried the top two performance levels so far. I can't really tell any difference in performance based on boost, EGT, or seat of the pants. I really have to watch the go pedal before boost is built up on both settings, because I can really make it smoke (big-time). I don't remember the EZ smoking anything like this.

Also, now that I've had some more chances to really step on it, I'm concerned about how much my EGTs have gone up for only a few pounds of boost gain. I'd say they are up 100-150 degrees overall. 1200 degrees comes up pretty quickly and I can hit 1300 on a long run. This seems high to me considering I have a BHAF, and 4 inch exhaust and boost module.

When I really hammer it, boost will spike up to 35 psi for a second then settle right back to 33 psi, almost like its correcting itself from being too high, although I have a boost module.

I just made my weekly 220 mile trip from Seattle and got 20. 7 mpg, just over 1 mpg better than usual.

Overall, the price to performance seemed attractive at first and I like the speed correction feature. The honeymoon started to end when I noticed the EGTs and smoke. I won't be able to tow anything. The instructions recommend it for unmodified trucks only. Just thought you guys should know what I've experienced so far.

Re: speedometer setting

Dave,

Have you tried out the speedo calibrate yet? Looks like somone has stated that it won't work on the diesel. Can you give it a try just to let us know if it will work?

So the only thing that this is good for is the codes. After all most of us have at least some modifications. Oh well it sounded a little to good to be true at first.

You say it smoke a lot, is the truck stock, or doe it have bigger injectors.

I ordered one too? I having second thoughts, nut it tolate to cancel.

Thanks JB

I'm running some 90hp injectors and a boost module. I reset everything to stock today and I'm back to getting 30 psi of boost and I can't hardly get to 1100 degrees, where 33 psi and 1200 plus are no problem with the Tuner.

I haven't tried the the speedometer correction yet but the tool show's that its available and tells me my stock tire height is 31. 5". Its one of their selling points, so it better work. I'm running stock size tires for now, so I guess I could try to set a bogus height to if my mph/rpm change. I'll let you know what I find out.

Does anyone know if it has a boost adjustment that will allow modifying of the wastegate or will I still need a boost module?

I certainly hope the speedo correction is available, that was the main reason for my purchase.

I guess I find out when it gets here:rolleyes:

Got the info directly from Superchips and was told no boost fooler but that the soft code could be cleared with the micro tuner.

Take it easy and take care,

Yup. Maybe you could use a boost fooler. I have two of 'em here for '98. 5's - '99, I just can't bring myself to disconnect the COMP ;)

I got mine in yesterday!

I installed the "HI-PERF" program, reset the tire size and checked for codes.

The truck gets up and moves considerably quicker.

Boost hits 20# quick.

EGT's will hit 1300* quick on WOT runs in 6th gear.

Speedo correction worked great! (used GPS to verify)

I feel like the power is a little slower coming on than with the EZ that I tried at one time.

I still don't know if I could modify the wastegate as is or do I need a boost fooler?

If I pinch the actuator hose and set a high boost code, can I just reset the code and get a boost module?

Boost Fooler is Required

I asked the question about a boost fooler to superchips and they replied that a boost fooler is NOT in the programing.

I had one already, so we will see how it works out.

JBlock:

I just received a response from Superchips verifying NO boost fooler :(

I guess that is not something they can program in, but requires an electronic device?

Super Chip

I got my tuner a couple days ago. At first, I thought the install wasn't going to happen, The instructions say turn your ignition on but don't start, I wasn't turning it on (had the access switch but not the on switch) after I realized I wasn't doing it right the install went smoothly. Even though I was told by a Super chip Tech that the tire correction wouldn't work I'm here to tell you it does and I think it's worth the money just for that feature. My boost comes up to 22 where before I could only get to 20. I installed the tow safe lowest setting. All in all everything has worked as expected. Dan at 2D performance was very helpful and real ly knows his stuff, they are people that I would denfinely do business with again.

Thanks

Peter
