My dealer reflashed my cumputer with an updated software a few months ago and I lost about 75 miles per tank since. :{ Idle use to be 830 and now 900 RPM. I would like to know if a superchip programmer remove my existing software an replace it with its own or an Edge EZ would basicaly adjust my existing software or bypass it?

Also, does anyone have tested a SEPERCHIP progammer and its effects on fuel milage? Thanks guys.

1998. 5 24 valve, 4 inch exhause, K&N, gauges, banjo bolt,

I've had the Superchips tuner and sent it back because it smoked really bad and made my EGTs run about ~150* hotter, even with a boost module. I now run a Hypertech & BD boost module and I've been really happy with it, although I'm thinking of selling it for a Drag Comp just to get more fueling.

I've ran EZ's before also and I believe they come on a little stronger earlier than the Hypertech but my max boost numbers were virtually identical. Both the EZ & Hypertech gave me a couple more pounds of boost than the Superchips. TDR had a Superchips and Hypertech comparison test a couple of issues ago also.

I really didn't notice any improvement. Most tanks averaged between 17-20 mpg at the time. I've added bigger tires and a lift since then and have dropped down a mile or two. I would think you would see an improvement because of the bad reflash you have.

Code reading & clearing and speedometer recalibration is an added benefit to the tuners.

i bought a superchip for my 01. 5 when they first came out, i payed like 234. 00 or something like that. Since then, they have went way up in price like 400 or somewhere close. When i got mine i could tell that it had more power, but it wasn't like a real kick in the butt. Anyway, two of my buddies ordered superchips about 3 months ago, and payed the 400 or whatever for them. These new ones seem to make much more power then my original. Fluke, maybe, but both of them smoked more when the turbo was laaging (spelling??) Good or bad i dont know, but smoke means your getting more fuel. I know have an edge comp and am stacking it with the superchip, not sure how much the superchip actually gives, but its still nice to be able to adjust speedo and check for codes. Forgot to mention that a superchip does help your mileage for empty everyday driving. i would say 2 to 3 mpg increase is very possible and most can probably get better.

Just my . 02, take it how you want.

My god man... you let the dealer touch your truck!!! NEVER let the dealer touch your truck.

Seriously... I would be bummed out if the dealer did a re-flash with-out my OK. I've had to take my rig in once, right after the purchase, for a cosmetic fix. Last time they've ever seen it.

Save those trips to the dealer for catostrophic failures... blown transmission or engine. JMO

Mike
