My friend has a VA, 2nd generation, the last couple months it has started causing noise in his CB radio. Remove the VA, noise goes away. Because the VA works still, it seems its not a warrantee problem. He send email to VA 2 times, but heard nothing back.

Is this the way VanAaken works? No customer support? There is no way he can call them on the phone$$$. If ever I get a box, seeing how VA deals with this problem, and there poor customer service is enough reason to take the VA off my list!

Anybody else have this problem with noise in the CB?

Re: need a little more info

A distributer. From what i hear, the distributer is sopposed to throw any box that is returned on a truck to see if it works, if it does work, its not warrantee. This box works, just generates lots of RF into the air.

If your friend can't get support for the box, and wants to get rid of the problem, try shielding all of the wiring coming out of the box. Wrap them up tight with kitchen aluminum foil with no gaps/ breaks, right up to the plugs. That should cut down on a lot, if not all of the interference.

O. K. , where is the power wire from the CB connected on the truck's electrical system? If it does not connect directly to the positive battery terminal by the shortest route, it may be the cause of the problem. Now, the CB ground: where is the radio grounded? If it is not grounded at the closest frame ground, re-connect it to the best one closest to the radio.

Just an update, I was in the truck 2 days ago with my 2m handheld, and yes, it receives the noise as well, but its not running off the trucks electrical system, it has its own battries.
