Best Exhaust System

Hi Folks,



Our local Meineke muffler shop is selling the Supreme Diesel exhaust system and they think its the best. Their diesel systems are part of the Vortex company. I've searched TDR and can't seem to find any reference to them. Do any members know about this system or have one? I've never heard of them before and I'd like to get some info before plunking down $1100 next Thursday.

$1100 dollars... wow. You already have a 4" exhaust. I replaced my muffler and cat with a 4" NELSON resinator about 40"s long 4" straight through and then added a 6" tip . This cost me about $185 and would be equal to that $1100 dollar system.



If you want to spend that kind of money you could get a complete 5" stainless system. Check some of the links on TDR for mufflers/ exhaust systems.



Bullydog systems seem pretty good.

One link i checked City Mufler had about 10 different systems for less than $600 dollars. Stainless sytems 4" or 5". FloPro, MBRP, Magna Flow, bullydog were just a few of the brands. Look around before you spend that much on a system. The labor to instal one of these systems should not be more than 2-3 hours at the most.

Gentlemen, thank you for the good points! The system itself was quoted at $850 with $254 for installation (3 hours. ) I had looked at DPPI and other sites and like you all have said there are stainless systems for far less, not to mention just replacing the muffler with a Donaldson. That was one reason I wanted to ask the Members about this system. You don't always get what you pay for. I was wondering if someone had tried this system and could say, 'yep, its worth every bit of 1100 bucks. ' It doesn't look like that is going to happen.



The owner of the Meineke shop has a PowerStroke Excursion with this setup and it is very nice, but is it $1100 worth? The shop manager has the Supreme Diesel on his Duramax. He is maxxed out with Banks tuner, etc. His exhaust is quiet with a mellow rumble but from what I read on TDR people are getting that same thing with Donaldsons, Bullydog, Rokktechs, MBRPs, etc.

YIKE'S!!! All you need is a MK96116 MBRP replacement muffler or the AFE Tom Kat kits. These replace just the muffler section of your factory 4 inch system. The MBRP has welded hangers that re use the stock rubber mounts while the AFE has clamp on hangers that re use the same mounts. Easy install and waaaaay less money too. The AFE is even available in aluminized for even more savings, I always suggest getting the 409 stainless as it's the same material as the stock system adnd that eliminates the electrolysis problem of different metals. Then you can look at a test pipe if you want for the cat, if you off road and or race. Plus you can install these yourself really easily for even more savings. Post a request for info on both of these two muffler only systems, you'll get a looooot of feedback on them.



Save that other 800. 00 for a set of gauges, a Programmer and intake system!!!
