I posted this before and still have the problem. I have a 2002-2500 quad cab with automatic trans. and a fass system. At 43000 miles when I reached 40mph the RPM surge from 1200 to 1500. I took it to a transmission shop and they replaced the transmission about 2 tears ago. After 27000 miles it's back and I have no warranty left on the trans. If I turn off the overdrive it does not happen. Can anybody help? Do I need another trans?

I am not a slushbox guy so I am not entirely sure on this. IIRC there was an issue with the autos that involved a wiring problem (ground strap maybe?) that was a source of a lot of peoples problems with autos and surging. Do a search.

mine did the same thing till I had my transmission rebuilt... turns out my o/d clutches were fried... also u might check out the apps noise filter from dtt. I think that has cured alot of surging and random t/c locking and unlocking. From your description though... I'd be willing to bet you have the same problem I did.

Sounds to me like the torque converter locking and unlocking. I've never had a truck with a 47RE, but my guess is that the torque converter will not lock up in third gear, which would explain why the problem goes away when you lock out OD.

As AWeaver mentions, check with DTT.
