I recently purchased a new 5th wheel, but when I hooked up the left turn signal on the
trailer failed to operate. Checked wiring, fuses etc. no problems found, told to take it
to the dealer. Dealer checked and found that the integrated power module, (i.e. the computer),
needed to be replaced! it is going to cost me $1,200 plus to get new one and programed!
those are expensive turn signals! lol. Anyone else had this problem?

Ralph, hope that your dealer is NOT taking you for a ride...while the TIPM can indeed go bad from bad wiring or hook-ups, it ALSO can be "reset" by dealer software SEVERAL times before it actually needs to be replaced. So if you are the trucks original owner and this is the first time it happened to you, then there is likely more life left in your tipm. A knowledgable dealer tech should be able to perform the reset with a dealer scan tool and it should NOT cost much more then $80.

Furthermore, while the TIPM does cost between $800 to 1200 at the dealer, Dorman products offers remanufactured units for the 2006 trucks for much less then that. The reman units are just that, an oem core brought back to "new" condition.

Furthermore, Modulite makes a product that you should look into buying, it PROTECTS the tipm from this sort of thing--

Also, here is some more reading on your problem--
