Thanks, TDR Staff

High FFA in WVO, now what?

New group to make bio in MN. ?

Anyone running SVO in their 24 valve trucks?98. 5-2002 model years. If so, how does it run?any modifications or straight into the tank?

I am in the process of building a 50 Gallon heated tank. Should be done some year soon  A TDR Fellow I know is running WVO right now in his 2001, 50-50 Blend with #2. Moose00

I've heard that the comin rails have had a problum , then heard an update that it was related to the quality of the fuel , not well prosessed , the older trucks do not have this problum.

The Problem is that the WVO may polymerize into a jelly under the HPCR pump pressures. I am not sure if that Biodiesel polymerizes under pressure. Moose00

Lots of info here and else where on this. Do a search and Google the subject. 12v do fine. VP44 truck won't do SVO/WVO for long. The heat of the fuel will cook the pumps electonics. Jury is still out on the HPCR. I was under the impression that the polymerization was due to poor quality fuel in biodiesel. SVO/WVO will gel if not purged before shut down. I don't know about the polymerization of WVO/SVO

Yea -- The polymerization issue was related to a colorado bus transit system that was running Blue Sun B100. It was leaving particles in their filters every week or so clogging them. No permanent engine or injector damage. Turns out the fuel they had was cloudy and still had glycerine. Before they figured out the problem tho they abandoned the B100 and ran B20 without incident.

WVO / SVO are a whole nother story. What interests me is blending. There are many variations on blending. The DSE method, the 50/50 (#2 & oil) method, the wvo / diesel / gasoline / diesel kleen blend method, etc..... The problem is that nobody has a handle on the issues with blending. The advantages to blending are obvious tho. No special equipment or processing. Just filter, mix and go.

Supposidly the gasoline, #2 diesel and diesel kleen additive will make the burn more complete reducing the liklihood of coking and carbon buildup.....

Supposidly.

SVO and WVO has to be heated before running on it from what I understand and you have to shut down on #2 or the oil will coke up on the injectors as it cools. Best I have found so far is get Bio from a good source. The owner of the place where I get my B100 not only sells it but runs the same stuff in his Cummins. So far everything is going well and any problems I have with the fuel I can call at anytime.

Check out DFWbiodiesel.com there is alot of info there.
