I was about to say it's 'tomorrow', but I seem to have regained that day I lost a few weeks ago, as it's only Thursday right now. :D

And, darn, I don't recall meeting up with any of y'all. I guess I was generally busy running around. I have to change that.

I was looking for you when I was running around @ Thunder Valley, but failed to see where you were hiding! Were you in the control tower?

Once or twice. I was trackside taking pictures (wearing the new red DHRA crew shirt). Otherwise, I was hanging around the trucks (and Keating's trailer) down 'below' the tower, where DHRA was located.

Sorry that I missed see you, but my son kept me busy. I began to feel old when he was introducing me to all the people he worked with at the track. I seem to remember when he was little and introducing him as my son to all the people I worked with, now the tables are turned, and he's introducing me to his folks. My, my, what a difference and how that makes you feel old!

Take care... . GT

Yeah, and in a few short years, he'll be changing your... nah, we don't want to go there just yet. :D :D Maybe the secret to staying young is to forget yer gittin' old; I only feel old when I ponder that I'm approaching 50. At a certain age, birthdays become a PITA, unless they happen without years and ages mentioned. :)

can someone remind us of when Rural Retreat is?

If you weren't there, you missed it. Mt. Empire folks are good people.

I never realized antique and mower pulls were so slooooooooow. I think the tykes sometimes pedaled faster than some of those others ran with motors. :D

I think there were perhaps 16 diesel trucks pulling. This was the first time the Mountain Empire Club has ever had trucks pulling. They've decided that since it went so well, they'll do it again on 7/15. They're already trying to rearrange the schedule so none of the events run late.

Pics: http://murent.us/dslhead/RuralRetreat-06-2006/

If any of y'all talk with Mt. Empire folks, let 'em know the pics are up, though I did leave a CD of all the pics with one of the registration ladies there (Jean, I believe).

Yea july 1st took the place of the 15th. But... on august 26th we are trying to work out a "truck-only" pull-should be a good event.

Anybody else going to Oakboro N. C. this weekend? (BIG pull with 4x4 gas and diesel trucks, hot tractors etc. ) We will be there watching with a frosty beverage in hand. ;)

thanks mike, i'll pass the info along to others as ill have to work that weekend (race weekend) , sounds like Oakboro will be a good time too , just a little to far to drive and still make work at 6:30 sunday , so have one for me :(

What're'ya goofy?!? 8/26 is Scheid Diesel Extravaganza weekend!

I have to go to Stoneboro on Saturday for the pull up there. And I'll see how the new muffler holds up. The Walker I got from Jannetty (5-6 years ago) with my original 4" exhaust succumbed to road cancer (the ends rusted off); it got annoyingly loud on the way to Garmon's shop yesterday. Jannetty's aluminized pipes are holding up nicely though. A little hilljack engineering and the new muffler is in place. And, yes, I *did* replace the muffler bearings; they were starting to squeak.

I didnt realize the scheid event was that weekend--ill get with Joe and Wes to see if this is right. But i think that this was the only other open date that the sled had.

Neal--make sure you check your blinker fliud too, mine was low lately and the cop said he couldnt even see my taillights. (wonder why???) ;) :-laf :-laf

It's OK; I switched to Amsoil Synthetic Blinker Fluid 190K miles ago and it's still going strong.

You might want to ensure your 'friends' haven't replaced your bulbs with Wagner's new GT- FTBL (gasser-trash full throttle black light) bulbs which, as you know, negate all light within a 10 foot sphere around them when the go pedal is positioned to maximum fueling. I hope you don't have to open a can of Whoop-A. . on 'em.

:D
