The seats in my '96 have seen better days and after 360k miles they're getting a bit loose and wobbly and they jiggle and sqeak quite a bit on rough roads.

Not only that but I like the seats on the '98-'02 trucks better anyway.

What I am thinking is swapping out the seats but then you have the seatbelt built in already, because of the Quad Cab configuration, and then disconnect the belts I have built into the panel.

Another thought however, a '98 or that rare '99 model Club Cab model would have what I'm looking for since they have the extended cab without the quad doors. Does anyone have one of these trucks and can tell me how the seats are set up?

Thanks, Vaughn

How about just replacing the covers???

If cushion support is still good, you might consider replacing only the covers Vaughn. There are some nice leather options out their for $400 - 600. SMorneau recently did his and they look awsome. His even had the dodge RAM emblem in the head rests.

My 96 seats covers are getting pretty ratty also, but the support still seems good. One of these days, I will do the covers.

This info was taken from Alaskaskiff:

"I put 99 leather/power seats in my 96 truck. Anyone doing this conversion will find it easier if they purchase the support for the seat front (you need 2) from mopar. The part number is 55275084 ($20 ea). They make the newer seats direct bolt-ins and a sturdier install. The back of the seats already bolt right up, but the fronts would require spacers and drilling. Well worth the effort. "

Thanks for the link cooker. Sounds like I definitely would need to find a set of seats from a '98 or '99 Club Cab so I won't have to deal with the seatbelt incompatability. I would have never guessed the seatbelt release is tied in with the airbag circuit (if indeed it is). Trouble is '98 and '99 Club Cabs are rare breeds. Maybe a regular cab doesn't have the seatbelt built in? Anyone know??

JJW I thought about this route but I like the shape and appearance of the '98+ seats better. Mechanically my seats are tired, they're pretty loose, wiggly and sqeaky.

This is what I was thinking. You could get the front seats out of a reg. cab and the rear out of whatever.
