I don't do hardly any hauling at all. The most I've ever hauled was a big water container for a well. I mostly bought the truck because of mileage, performance, and because I LOVE Cummins. My truck right now is a three speed auto. On the highway, going 70 mph, it sounds like the engine is really running high. I don't have a tach (one of the many things i need to get), so I'm not sure how high it's actually running. All i know is for long drives, I want to keep the rpm's down. I think a five speed would also help with mileage and performance. Is it worth switcing it to a five speed, or is there something else I could do to get the same effect? Thanks.
