Swaping 3.54 gears

Just curious if anyone is currently running with 3. 08 gears and what it is like in terms of power empty and or towing. I have 3. 54's and don't tow much of anything, and I'am looking to do something to reduce RPM's at highway speeds. Has anyone changed to a lower gear ratio and if so where did you get the crown and pinion from? Thanks in advance!

My Dad's 1991 2WD has 3. 08 from the factory. The guy that owened it before him use to pull a 40ft three axle 5th wheel from north eastern Washington to southern AZ. and said that he never had a problem pulling the hills. The first owner also put a Gear Vendors over drive in. The pick-up is a 1991 2WD CUMMINS DIESEL with a 727 auto transmission, a Gear Vendors over drive, HD trans cooler Boost, EGT, and tach from US gear (the same gauges that ISSPRO makes. This pick-up gets 25+ MPG on the highway at 60+ MPH and pulls like an OX. Got to love these HUMMIN CUMMINS!
