I have got a swap about lined up to trade my 3. 54 for 4. 10 on ram 2001 ctd 2500 4x4 short bed, any recommendation on how to go about it. Both vechiles are near identical stock mileage. However one 99 and mine 2001. The 99 get the 3. 54 for better mileage and my 2001 a higher towing capacity.

Is it worth doing, as door sticker on the truck will not show the new tow rating and increased GGVW. Any ideas, I live in Washington State can i get a registration tag updated to show the new higher rating or am I dreaming.

I think this is what requires:

Rear end

slip the axles back and pull the limit carrier assembly then slip the nes one in a reverse the procedure, Not sure about seals etc.

Front end

No Idea haven't looked yet.

Can we get the two trucks side by side and complete the work in day.

thanks for any comments.

Swap the axle assemblies

Yes, thanks Chris

That a novel idea, It does make sense, yes if it easier. Like I said I am open to ideas. Orginally I was hoping to to find a dana 80 assembly, that be better, but no one would want to trade down to Dana 70. I waiting for price from wrecking yard but they have got back to me, probably big dollars.

thanks Joe
