Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Swapping brakes and axles?

I have a 2000 3/4 6 speed with the 3. 54 and have found a guy that has a 94 3/4 ton with a dana 80 with 4. 10. ( I assume that it is also a hybrid). Can anyone tell me if I can just swap the whole axles and then just pull my axles out of the tubes and put them back on his tubes and keep my current brakes? I would rather do that than to have to pull the gears and pay someone to set the backlash and such. He also told me that it is also impossible to adjust them so that they won't whine after they have wear on them if you pull them and reistall them.

I thought the earlier 3/4 tons had dana 70 rear axles.
