ok fellas... i am wondering if this is feasable???i have both a '98 1 ton and a '01 ton both with automatics... ... . but the '01 has a 89% tc, valve body, and clutches. i want to switch the trannies out. i am wondering if there is any electrical differences between the two and what other probs if any there might be???one is a 12 valve and the other is a 24 valve obviously. both are 4wd..... i have gotten quotes for $560 and $700... reasonable???

Do the quotes you have include labor to push and pull two trannies from two separate trucks?

If so, those are VERY reasonable quotes.

The swap is a no brainer... . and it can be done easily with no worries..... however - there might be some changes in the valvebody and PCM from '98 to '01... . other than that... . the trannies are identical.

yes... one quote is for $560 and the other is for $700..... the whole works..... they estimate it to be about 14hrs of labor..... my real question is if there is any problems that will occur with switchin the trannies other than the numbers not matchin or whatever... . i guess i just dont want to get a call and have them say... well... we need a $200 adapter plate and it wont be til next friday or something like that..... it should be bolt for bolt the same correct??driveshaft for driveshaft?? and is there anything that i should have them do/replace while they are under there while they are there??the DTT was put in 12k ago and the stock transmission has 97k on it.

Like I said before... . there are some changes in valvebody and PCM things... . so you may incur some additional $$ that was not in the quote.

The transmission's bolt on stuff and everything else is 100% the same... .

Matt

There is no definitive answer for that question.

However - if you'd like my own personal opinion (which may or may not be the most valid - depending on who you ask... . ) - I think that it'll hold more power than any human being would ever need to produce. (could I get any more vague with that?!)
