I am wondering if replacing the stock "camper pkg" sway bar on my 99 2500 with a Hellwig bar would be worthwhile. I am anticipating a slide in camper purchase in the near future... .
I have a Hellwig on my '03 and I'm realy happy with it. If you don't have airbags on te rear axle, I'd really recommend them. Between the airbags and sway bar, my old slide in was really tamed. You won't do away with the sway, but it really helps.

I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference between the factory antisawy bar and the Helwig even though the Helwig is a little larger in diameter. I hauled a large heavy slide in truck camper on my previously owned 2000 3500 dually with the factory antisway bar. I installed a Helwig on my '03 3500 since the 3rd generation trucks don't come with a factory antisway bar. The Helwig on the '03 performs about the same as the factory antisway bar on the '00 3500.
The best way to eliminate sway is engage the truck's overload springs by adding a spacer between the truck frame overload spring bump stops and the overload springs. There are several options on the aftermarket that do this... Torklift, Supersprings, Energy Supsension, etc.
