I guess I have been smoking too much dope lately. I just noticed this forum. I am looking forward to this. I am wondering if running a quarter mile in 4x4 will damage anything. Has anyone done this? I do not have a hd t-case. I haven't done it yet because Bill K said it can break the input shaft in my trans. I am also wondering if anyone would be intersted in perfect launches every time. I am working on a device that would let this happen for those with an auto trans. Let me know. You can E-mail me at -- email address removed --.

As for the 4x4 launches... . I've heard of quite a few people doing it... they launch in 4x4 then shift to 2x4 once things get straightened out.

what do you mean by 4x4 ??? on launch or full track ? some guys run it full track , i haven't , i have the heavy duty Tcase and i don't think it would like it .



tell us about this device ??? yes matt trans brake , i'd like on , but not in this truck , maybe in the drag truck if i stumble over 20k with no home ...

You can run the whole way in 4 wheel drive, however above 90mph you can tell the driveline is not happy. I did nine passes like this tho. This last time out soon as it shifted to 3rd I would pop it out of 4 wheel. Gonna try to do it a bit sooner next weekend.



I have launched as high as 10 psi... . and I was spinning in 4wd. I have to tone down my launch so I can get my 13. 5 i want.

kat , i'm out of 4wd by the time i'm 100 ft down the track , in time trials as soon as i see my 60 ft flash on the board at the end of the track i pop it into 2 wd drive , i've never run 4wd over 50 mph , and not that fast at the track .



i think you need to get a set of sticky street tires and use 2wd drive unless you can find a soft compound tire the same size as your fronts for a 16 inch rim ...

BF Goodrich makes some really sticky 'Drag Radials' in 16" sizes but they are NOT truck sizes... . mostly designed for the import drag racing crowd.



Good luck finding a load range 'E' drag racing tire.....

How are you guys getting the thing out of 4x? I haven't tried on my new truck, but with the 205 in the old ride it wouldn't come out of 4x until I let off the gas and went back a ways to relieve drive train stress. You guys just force it out? How much force does it take? This has got to be bad for t- case life.

Pops right out. Only thing we are trying to accomplish is getting the power to transfer tot he rear, the hubs will stay locked until you let of the gas, but it is "out" of 4wd as far as i know. While it may be bad on the T-case I am sure its much better then running it to 99mph in 4wd



If something breaks I'll let ya know. . so far so good tho.

Well I been at my girlfriends house since Tuesday night (and lovin everyminute of it ) So I haven't had a chance to do anything, all she has is dial up. Maybe i'll set it up toload it over night tonight.
