I am installing an electrically actuated exhaust cutout from Race Ready Performance (4”). Since my truck does not have the power adjustable pedals I have a very nice spot currently with a blanking plate for a potential switch install location. I would like to use the dodge power adjust pedal switch but not sure if I will be able to.

Speaking with Steve at RRP he said they use a DPDT (double pole double throw) switch with a neutral ground.

I could use some input on whether the Dodge switch will work or not.

First diagram is the wiring of a common DPDT switch, just for reference.

The second is the wiring diagram between the TIPM(totally integrated power module) to the pedal adjust switch to the pedal adjust motor from the Dodge service manual.

On the Dodge switch connector shown in the wiring diagram the connector pin-out functions are labeled

Pin 1: adjustable pedals motor rearward

Pin 2: adjustable pedals output

Pin 3: blank (no wire or pin)

Pin 4: ground

Pin 5: Fused ignition switch output (run)

Pin 6: Adjustable pedals motor forward

There is that symbol below pin 5, I believe it indicates a led (light emitting diode) but not certain.

Any thoughts, I would really hate to hook up the dodge switch and burn out the cutout motor.

Most of the commands given to the ECM are simple grounds... you ground a terminal to turn on the exhaust brake... . you ground a terminal to get a preset fast idle... so there is a single wire out to a switch and the other side of that switch is connected to ground... .

Because these are simple commands, I would assume but don't for sure that the same logic would work with the TIPM... .

I can see your need to use a nice matching switch that fits the bill, but my guess is that it won't work... .

I have this feature on 2 vehicles but that switch is buried so that I can't get to it to see the rear of it..... per the drawing you've supplied... the pedal control switch won't work...

Hope this helps. .

"Speaking with Steve at RRP he said they use a DPDT (double pole double throw) switch with a neutral ground. " I think what he means is DPDT momentary switch with a auto return to center off or neutral position. A pedal adjustment switch would be a momentary switch (so you could position the pedals at height you want) with a auto return to center off position. bg

Hey B. G. thanks for the reply.

I got the wiring harness in and their switch and the Dodge switch are pretty much identical except for one minor thing. in the RRP wiring harness right before the switch they have a capacitor (see wiring diagram below).

Any ideas on why they would have it?

Yes, that is a LED, I was talking about the capacitor. It is soldered into the wiring, and they split off of it to supply both the LED and the motor. I realize it is not the correct symbol but I indicated it by the orange circle.

I could maybe understand the need to condition/smooth the supply to the LED but not for both the LED and motor.

Normally you would see a slight voltage drop when the motor starts because of line loss so maybe it is to gives the motor a voltage spike to get it started in both directions? I really don't know. bg
