switch wiring Q, I'm electrically dumb

I just got my lighted SPST switches and can't figure out how to wire them so the switch light only comes on when the switch is ON position. These are Carling switches w/ terminals at #2, #3, #7 (light). I've tried everything I can think of to get the internal light to work in only the ON, but I'm lost. If I ordered the wrong style let me know. I only want each switch to control 1 item.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I didn't find 1 that had the 2-3 &7 terminals listed. I'll just give Waytek a call on Monday.

So is the light at the the 7 oclock position? Can you borrow a multi- meter from the base? Use the reisitance scale ohms to measure continuity (circuit) through the spst. Is the switch then from # 2 to #3 and the light through #7??? will look tomorrow morning to see if this helps.

Got 4 SPST sw's for several lights and such and MOST (not all) are off, no light On Light on Just the way of letting you know to turn the dang things OFF when your done with them.

I figured it out this morning. I was putting 12V to the wrong terminal. #3 & #7 are intermally connected, and I was putting 12V to #3. Swapped the power to #2 and grounded the #7 (light) lead and all is well. I did label the power & grnd on my test switch so I'll get it right during install.
