Dodge Recall

I bought an oil service plan with my truck, they will change the oil up to 3 times a year. The problem is I drive more than 15k per year. I am planning on changing the oil myself for the few times a year I need to keep myself in the 4 to 5K change interval. I've used Delo400 oil/fleetguard filters in the past with good results. Question I have it if it is wise to swap back and forth between mopar oil (when the dealer changes it) and Delo. Any input? Thanks everybody.

As long as both oils meet the Cummins requirements, it really wont hurt anything using a different brand, but make sure they are actually using approved oil. I know the Chevy dealer near me puts 5W-30 in EVERYTHING from cars to trucks, to diesels. They only have one oil tank there. Ask you dealer what brand and weight they are using. Dont think just because they are a Dodge dealer that do everything right, i learned that the hard way in past expieriences.

Can you buy out of it??

I know of several dealers that only have one bulk oil tank or " shop " 55 gal drum for the lot punks ( spelled combination car washers and oil changers ) to use for no profit getem in and getem out sales managers dumb idea ( sell it up front cheap so the service dept looses money on em )oil changes. They cant afford to pay a mechanic to do a "loss" service or use top of the line products.

A friend had his oil changed at a 5 s**** dealer in town and had low oil pressure when he picked up his truck, YEP: you guessed it!!! 5QTS of 5-30

Just my opinion

I trust Jiffy Lube more than the dealers, at J/L they don't wash cars between oil changes and have to be retrained, problem is they don't get retrained between washing and oiling, just high.

Could be different but the dealers here just have baggy pantsed, shaved heads, gang bangers dinging and denting the vehicles while trying to bend them into a service bay so they can do an oil change or bend it puting it back in the parking lot.

ask your dealer if they have delo 400 on tap!!!!

my dealer has it and the mopar oil they were glad to or should I say the tech was glad to put the delo 400 in my truck because they have it in a bulk tank and he doesent have to fill my truck one quart at a time with the mopar oil !!! all I have to do is ask for it when I sign in
