My brother just bought a 97 and had a 95 with a #6 plate. Will this plate work in a 97 or does he need a new plate? Is a #6 for a 95 even the same plate as a #6 for a 97? What would happen if he put the 6 in his 97?

Is the 1997 a manual trans or automatic? With a auto, he will like the increased power. With a manual trans, he will like the power till he takes out the clutch. I have a 6 plate that a buddy wanted for his 97, was informed by PDR that estimated power would easily take out the factory clutch.

my brother also wants to know about how much hp. and torque a #6 plate will produce. Every place he found info. for his 97, they alway said not recommended.

He also has a SB 13" Fe ordered to take care of the clutch problem. He also has a scotty on the way. I guess he already put the plate in the truck. He said he wasn't having egt problems but he hasn't towed any thing with it yet. Clutch slipped the first day he had the plate in. He said it was hard to get to 1400. He can push 42lb of boost. Is this too much boost?

#6 in that 97 manual trans = 400hp or so. 42 lbs boost is a bit much for a stock turbo. Opinions vary about the amount of safe boost.

Just replace the clutch. He's fine otherwise where he is. If he doesn't like power:rolleyes:, he can slide the plate back a bit or just open up his wastegate a bit.
