Warrant question

Hello all. I got a 2016 2500 6.7 80300 miles. 300 miles out of " warranty " my def pump fails. Took it to the dealer of course its out of pocket. They did a list of recals no joke 2 pages long. They replaced alot of emissions related parts. Has anyone had any luck getting a " courtesy " warranty on emissions parts. Ive been back forth google, searching the forums etc etc. So much mixed information on whats covered, how long its covered. Ive also come the thinking that your dealer support factors in alot. I know there are alot of posts about these issues on here. Just didnt want to hijack someone and maybe get an answer from a guy thats been there. Does anyone know what actually fails in the pump ?? Im in the heavy equipment business and we have one brand of forklift that looses def pumps continually. Some machines have had 2 or 3 pumps installed and no one knows what components fail. Circut boards, sensors its like mums the word. Its odd you can rebuild pumps injectors failing gauge clusters ecms. But a 20 dollar Chinese made part. No sir 1000 bucks please.. But then why do they want the core ?? Feel like im getting the screw job. Sorry to vent just curious if anyone has had luck pushing warranty after the fact. Thanks in advance guys

I really don’t think you’ll get any flex on this at all. The only hope I think you have is some other program such as a fed emission warranty or campaign.
I don’t know the true cost from mopar, but you can overhaul the entire Ford super duty system (heater, pump, injector (I’ve never had to change the line, but that has a heater in it)) for about $800 in parts. Contamination is the usual cause of failure.
I see a few SCR systems in all kinds of equipment, and none of it is trouble free. As you probably know, DEF is insanely corrosive, and it’s been explained to me by a Mack Truck engineer that their pumps can’t last forever, and there is an actual “creep” of corrosion from out of the pump and into the electrical.

If I'm not mistaken, the 80,000 miles is when the Fed emissions warranty expires.

I was just poking around and I see rock auto has aftermarket parts for this, pumps not available right now, but at least options are opening up.

Dorman is making def injectors and pumps for Ford. The problem with buying aftermarket emissions parts, you still have to have access to witech. Makes the D word all the more attractive.

This is true. Configuring etc.

emissions related equipment should be covered until 100,000 or 5 years - from what i went through buying my truck in january. good luck.

This is what I see. Looks like 7/70 is the longest. You can ask very nicely and professionally if FCA will reimburse you but they have no obligation to cover items beyond a warranty mandated by the government.

A. Parts and Performance Covered for 5
Years or 50,000 Miles, Whichever Occurs
First
Federal law requires FCA US to warranty that if any
emission-related part on your vehicle is defective, FCA
US will repair or replace the part. The repair or
replacement will be made at no charge to you for
diagnosis, parts or labor. Any other parts damaged by
the failure of a defective part will also be repaired or
replaced.
In addition, if your vehicle fails a smog check
inspection, FCA US will make all necessary repairs and
adjustments to ensure that your vehicle passes the
inspection.
Your emission control system may include parts
such as the catalytic converter and powertrain control
module. Also included may be hoses, belts, connectors
and other emission-related assemblies.

B. Parts Covered for 7 Years or 70,000
Miles, Whichever Occurs First
FCA US also warrants that every part listed below - if
installed as original equipment - is free from defects.
These parts are:
Ram Pickup 2500/3500
• Charge Air Cooler
• EGR By-Pass Valve
• EGR Valve
• EGR Cooler
• Fuel Injector
• Nitrous Oxide Sensor
• Oxidation Catalyst/Particulate Filter Assembly
• Powertrain Control Module
• Selective Catalytic Reduction Catalyst Assembly
• Turbocharger
• Urea Tank Assembly
Where parts are scheduled for replacement as
required maintenance, this warranty applies until the
first scheduled maintenance point listed in the owner’s
manual.

Since the EGR cooler & valve are scheduled for service at 67,500 miles, does that shorten the 70k to 67.5k?

Or is the EGR valve service not listed as a 67.5k service item on the 2013+ trucks? So it is a non-issue?

Well, when you have problems with your truck after 80K miles, best of luck to you trying to tell them you’re covered to 100K miles.

Dealership scammed me out of $40+ on something covered under fed emissions warranty . Guess so far, I'm lucky it was < $50

On DEF equiped trucks, the EGR cooler and valve do not have/need to be serviced at 67,500 miles, per owners manual.

Egr is no longer serviced on 14’+ trucks

EGR valve and cooler are serviced at 135k (or 9 years) on 2013's. No longer at 67.5 k.

Didn't see this before. But just found my manual. Maybe the 2014+ is different.
