I am a relatively new member (end of Dec) and have seen many posts in the last 3-4 weeks on bad lift pumps. I am planning on getting gauges in the near future, but until then, what are the symptoms of a lift pump going/gone bad?
I think the only good answer is a FP gauge. I don't think you will notice much until it totally gives out completely. Some have notice a stumble at WOT, or trouble getting started after a filter change. I just changed mine a few weeks ago and would have never notice without the gauge. Only have 18,000 and just changed it myself because the it wasn't quite bad enough to be changed under the lame dealer standards. Got mine at Cummins Rocky Mountain for $145 and took me about 30 minutes to change it, and I'm a first timer.
Let me know if I can help you out if you need to change one, just up the road and have a big heated garage.
