New member, 1st post, 2 questions:

1. What, if any brand(s), synthetic ATF is recommended for use in a 47RE auto trans?

2. Does anyone make an external ATF filter kit that will work on a 47RE?

According

to our transmission guy (who's real good), the Mopar ATF+4 is synthetic. Can't answer the filter question, but an auto or truck part store that you trust can probably find you one. My opinion is, it is not really neccesary, but with synthetic fluid, I can see why you would want to only change the filter, not the fluid.

ol ron, I thought the Mopar ATF+4 was only a semi-synthetic ATF. Synthetic or semi-synthetic?

I have been using either Red Line 7176 ATF+3 or Amsoil Universal ATF (+4) in my DTT enhanced 47RE since 7k mi. Both (100%) synthetic ATFs have worked very well in the past 61k mi. :D I have had both the Mag-Hytec Deep and Double Deep trans. pans on my 47RE as well (although the Double Deep model is a keeper!)

bspence, welcome to the TDR!
