This is my first post and have got good ifo. from previously read posts. Please respond with your best advise. I just recently purchased a new 2002 2500 4X4 HO 6 spd with 24 miles, changed the oil on a regular basis and went on vacation at 10,2 K after returning from vacation realized that I put Valvoline True Blue "SYNTHETIC BLEND" instead of regular True Blue Dino. I have put about 4K miles since then without putting the truck to its true expectations ( no pulling or heavy hauling ). What is the worst that can happen after putting "SYNTHETIC BLEND" into a not broke in motor? Did I screw up a 6K $ engine or will the rings set if I return to True Blue Dino, 15W40?

I wouldn't think you hurt it with a blend that has at best 10% synthetic in with the 90% dino oil. I would go back ASAP to something like Rotella T 15w40 and stay on it for at least 20K miles. Mines alway been on dino Rotella T 15w40, just like the 1,000,000 mile trucks written up in the TDR. Save your money and stay on the dino oil and just change your oil based on the owners manual and your driving (schle A or B). If these engines have gone 1,000,000 miles on dino oil what is the point of synthetic (unless you live in the cold cold north) and don't/can't plug in in the winter.

I don't feel that any harm was done. At most, you may have lengthen the break in a few miles. Change to regular dino and enjoy your truck.
