Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) P/S leak

I'm curious what the symptoms, if any, would be if the spring tension nuts where not at the same tension. I have a 3K GSK that was installed by someone else. If this could cause a problem, what is the best approach to correct it? I'm not sure how many clicks the stock springs where set at. Can I back off each spring and start over with matching the tension? Thanks for any suggestions.

On one install I did, I noticed the factory setting was 1/4 of a turn difference between the two spring retainers. This truck always had a slightly shaky idle (the gear shift would move back and forth). Upon installing the 3k GSK, I set both retainers to the same number of turns and the problem was cured.

well until Marc posted I was going to say i dont think there are indications to the springs being (slightly) unbalanced.

thinking about the way they work they are in tandem, so i cant see (other than being a little hyper sensative) how a crank or less difference could affect things.

I would think idle RPM's may flucuate more with them unbalanced. what i mean by that is if you set them at idle in gear and then turned on the AC and it dropped a lot. that COULD be a simptom.
