Anyone out there have this same problem... ... .

The ONLY time the WATER IN FUEL lamp is activated is directly following the fuel filter change?

It sorta bugs me that the thing senses water when a fresh filter is installed. I didn't see the computer derate the engine HP..... :-laf ..... like some may, so I simply disconected the plug to turn the lamp off.

Any problem associated with taking the sensor out of the picture? I simply don't need some wacked-out electrical device telling me I have water in a fresh filter... ... again.

I tried to drain out some fuel like the normal mannor but to no avail this time 'round... ..... she bit the big one I'm affraid.

On the plus side. I gained 5+ (fuel supply) psi :) and the filter only had say, 11K on it. She is back up to 15 psi again.

Fuel Filter Challanged in OHIO

ROFLMAO

Yup that's me. Changed the filter on saturday (was on almost 2 years/35K+ miles ... oops) and now I have the WIF light.

I'm going to unplug the connector.

If she starts to sputter and cough and generally won't run right sometime, then maybe I'll drain a few ounces and see if there's water in there. Otherwise I won't look back.

I pushed the drain plug up to drain out the "accumulated water" and nothing comes out. I started the engine and did the same and fuel BLOWS out the drain! :) LOL

I figgured THAT would have flushed her good. I digress.

I found other filters that will work in place of the FS1232

Mine did that when I installed a new filter. It turned out to be the sensor/drain was screwed in to tight, I guess the contacts were touching the inside of the filter. It did this again one time after washing the motor, and it was water in the back side of the connector. I knew something was up when I unpluged it to get the light to go out and it still stayed on. A little compressed air and its been good since.

Thank you for the "assist" AKimmel ... I've been telling Scott for years that this was HIS problem... . :-laf :-laf He should learn to "loosen up" a little. :-laf :-laf

Seriously though... I'll try that too... thanks for the tip.

I had the same problem once, only it was at the Dodge dealership. They changed the fuel filter and gave me the truck back. WIF light comes on, so I give it back to them. They bleed the hp lines and it's still on. They file down the sensor pins and light is STILL on. They give me a new sensor ($50 part…thanks :D) and guess what? light is still on. In the end they decided it was a bad filter! The best part is I had to give them MY Mopar spare filter 'cause they didn't have any on hand. :-laf :-laf :-laf. I wonder if they could've avoided all that if they'd just loosened it up a bit? Anyway, y'all might try filing down the tips of the sensor if loosening doesn't turn off that light…

I have the BF (Baldwin) cuz it's 9. 00 compared to 12. 00/13. 00 for the others.

Someone will no doubt, point out that Baldwin filters are junk, and I'll destroy my IP. Untill then I'll keep the BF.

May I point out that THESE are water separators. There are TONS of other elements that will fit just fine.

I looked at all that will fit with a 10 micron that Cummins calls for.
