On the NP-205's, can you remove the rear yoke to replace the seal while in the truck without splitting the case? I was trying to understand the service manual on this one but figured I'd ask anyway. Both of my trucks need attention #ad

I had a small leak at the yoke on the rear of my transfer case. I bought a new seal ready to replace it as I feel that you could replace the seal without removing the transfer case. When I went to do it I found that the nut that holds the yoke had backed off slightly. I just retorqued it and checked the oil and never did change the seal. The leak stopped. Mark

I have done it on the 75 Ford NP205 on the truck. Word of experience: go buy a new nut EVERY time. It will never lock as well once removed. I also took a chunk of channel iron and cut a rectangle out to hold the yoke. Needs to be approx 2 ft long. I did not even attempt to cut a beautiful hole.
