Much has been said about the delete kit as solving overdrive and lockup problems. I installed one

as the linkage was worn and the stock t p s was not working properly. this kit worked ok at first

but there was always a problem with a shudder at 42 mph. the other day the delete kit failed and

I connected the old one, the shudder is gone but no lockup, now i will be looking to rebuild the linkage. stormy

I'm curious as to why the TPS delete kit would cause shudder,,,it's basicaly the exact same thing at the stock TPS except it's fully manual... i dont see how it could cause shudder. .

Your shudder was probably due to the TC locking up at too low a speed. My truck will do the same thing if I lock the TC below 50mph. Under any kind of a load it "shudders". Unlock the TC and it's nice and smooth. Since yours is not locking up now, it's nice and smooth.

I experienced shudder at lower speeds like 25 or 30 mph, light throtle in 2nd. does not do this with stock tps. i don't know the answer to this, i just know it works ok now but the linkage must be rebuilt. stormy

I installed the "tps delete" linear taper potentiometer in a customer's '95 and he nearly got mad because I didn't do it sooner. He loves it and it has been trouble free for nearly a year.

Hi Bdaugherty,,,can you tell me what kit you bought,,or what kind of potentiomometer you used,,i really need to do this,,,i'm starting to get tired of always having to engage my OD and lock up with manual switches,,

There are several really good threads on the install if you do a search. The top link is a kit sold from DNR Customs for $39. 99. The bottom attachment is a thread I started and has part numbers from Radio shack.

The only down side is that you lose your kick down when passing. It is no problem for me. I just hit the O/D off switch on the shifter when passing. It's worth the trade off. This mod really frees up the engine. It will feel like you added 100 horsepower to your truck. It's that good!

i will check it out,,do kickdown doesnt bother me,,i have never had to do anyways,,the truck makes so much torque anyways that passing just requires a nice slow depressing of the go pedal,,LOL
